Welcome to my profile :)
A bit about me and my experience
I have recently started developing games and have completed three game jams since Autumn 2024 (See games on right) - each jam has been a unique experience in which my roles have varied significantly but with my core focus being centered around Game Design and Concept Creation.
I love game design; taking an initial idea, nuturing and growing it into a concept that appeals to all (or most!) is my favourite part of game development. I also find great reward in managing and guiding a project and I am confident I can get the best out of a game concept through guided teamwork. The two top tips I can give? 1. Be supportive of your team mates and 2. define your requirements clearly up front; if you don't know what a particular part of your game is going to look like until you get there, put in a review checkpoint so everyone knows there will need to be a decision made at that time, and that that decision will determine the direction of their work.
Accolades
Out of the three jams I have led and participated in, we have smashed it! We have come:
Other experience
Programming: Godot - GDscript, across the 3 games I have developed I have been the sole programmer for one, and co-coded for another. Not only have I gone from 0 coding skill to substaintial, I have gained a huge appreciation for just how much work goes into coding and implementation. So if you ever find yourself on my team, you can rest assured you won't be expected to do excessive crunching or given unreasonable demands!
Artwork: I can use Krita and produce reasonable pixel art - but I am really nothing more than a practising amateur here!
Shoutouts
A huge shoutout to HedgemanDan who I have worked with twice now and to great success - he is a talented individual and a delight to work with.
Milo87, Sarah, Steve Main and James Keeble have been excellent partners in crime across all of the projects - a massive thank you to all of you.
Playtesters and Jam hosts - true enablers, things would either suck or just wouldn't have happened without you!
Players!! - The most important part of any of this work, there is virtually no reason to do this without you; thank you so much for playing <3 and an extra thank you to those who comment!
Where from here?
I am looking to build upon one of the games in the list and push it out into "the real world" to start exploring. Keep an eye out for it!
As mentioned, I also like to dabble in pixel art and I am currently working on a slow-burn solo project which uses this art:
